MTN Foundation has unveiled the 2026 cycle of its flagship community infrastructure intervention programme, What Can We Do Together (WCWDT). Serving as the primary launch touchpoint for public awareness, the Foundation is inviting Nigerians to nominate their communities to benefit from the upgrade of 40 Public Primary Healthcare Centres (PHCs) and 15 Public Secondary School Science Laboratories across the country.

Speaking during the launch, Etim Amana, Director of the MTN Foundation, said the initiative is built on shared responsibility and collective progress. “The life we live is not just about us. It is about service, responsibility, and shared progress. This programme is built around people and communities, and how we can work together to improve lives,” he said.

Odunayo Sanya, Executive Director of the MTN Foundation, said the initiative will support science education and open up opportunities for students. “In education, we are supporting the next generation of scientists, engineers and doctors by giving them access to science laboratories where they can learn through practice and imagination. We are also opening nominations for communities and schools to benefit from these interventions, and we encourage Nigerians to take part in the process,” she said.

WCWDT is a collaborative platform designed to address identified service delivery gaps in critical social sectors through inclusive, community-driven partnerships. Since its inception, the initiative has demonstrated strong delivery capacity, with over ₦4 billion invested in social infrastructure interventions. The Foundation has successfully delivered upgrades to 181 PHCs and over 110 science laboratories nationwide. These past interventions have reached 623 communities across 32 states and spanned over 517 Local Government Areas.

For the 2026 programme year, the healthcare interventions will focus on enhancing the functionality, service readiness, and patient experience of maternal wards in the selected PHCs. The Foundation is committed to ensuring that each state and the FCT benefits from at least one PHC intervention.

Furthermore, the initiative will renovate and equip 15 functional science laboratories to improve hands-on science learning and STEM outcomes, with at least two secondary schools selected from each geo-political zone.

The call for nominations runs from May 5 to July 5, 2026. Nigerians can submit their nominations via a digital nomination platform at www.mtn.ng/wcwdt. Additionally, MTN customers can nominate via SMS by sending ‘MTN’ to the short code 421.
