It was a grand display of culture, heritage, and unity as MTN Nigeria joined the people of Egba land to celebrate the 2025 Lisabi Festival in Abeokuta, Ogun State. The annual festival, held in honour of Lisabi, the legendary warrior and liberator of the Egba people, brought together sons and daughters of Egba land from across Nigeria and beyond for a week-long series of cultural events and festivities.

As a proud sponsor of this year’s festival, which marked the 38th edition, MTN Nigeria reaffirmed its commitment to preserving and promoting Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage. The highlight of the celebrations was the much-anticipated Egbaliganza, a vibrant procession that took place on Saturday, April 5, featuring a colourful parade of cultural groups, traditional displays, and performances showcasing the strength and unity of the Egba people.

Speaking on the MTN’s dedication to supporting initiatives that celebrate Nigeria’s diverse cultural heritage, Chief Marketing Officer, MTN Nigeria, Onyinye Ikenna-Emeka said: “The Lisabi Festival is a symbol of resilience, unity, and pride for the people of Egba land, and we are honoured to be part of this historic celebration. At MTN, we believe in connecting people not just through technology but also through shared cultural experiences that strengthen our communities.”

Throughout the festival, attendees were engaged with exciting activities, including traditional music and dance performances, games, and networking opportunities.

Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, expressed his appreciation to sponsors, including MTN Nigeria for their support of the Lisabi Festival, emphasising the importance of corporate partnerships in preserving cultural traditions.

“We are deeply grateful to all our sponsors and partners for their invaluable contributions to the success of this year’s Lisabi Festival. Your commitment not only enhances the celebration but also helps safeguard our cultural identity for future generations,” the Governor said.

With its sponsorship of the Lisabi Festival, MTN Nigeria continues to reinforce its role as a brand that values culture, fosters community engagement, and contributes to the development of local traditions.

This year’s celebration drew a host of esteemed dignitaries, including the Honourable Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani; Former President of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo; Former Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, among others.

As the curtains close on the 2025 Lisabi Festival, the memories of the celebration will remain, reminding all of the enduring legacy of Lisabi and the vibrant spirit of the Egba people.
