Black At, a global platform championing access, inclusion, and opportunity for Black creatives and executives, today announces the official launch of “Through Her Lens” in Lagos — a groundbreaking initiative focused on advancing gender equality within the creative economy.

The Lagos launch marks the beginning of a global series that will travel across Johannesburg, São Paulo, London, Cannes, and New York (UNGA 2026), culminating in a comprehensive white paper that captures insights, data, and solutions addressing the challenges women face in the creative industry.

At its core, Through Her Lens seeks to explore and address critical themes including:

Gender equality in the creative sector

Access to leadership and economic opportunities

Recognition of creative excellence and impact

The intersection of culture, innovation, and inclusion

A GLOBAL CONVERSATION STARTING IN LAGOS

As one of Africa’s leading creative and cultural hubs, Lagos provides the ideal backdrop for the launch of a movement designed to reshape the future of creativity through a more inclusive lens.

“This initiative is about more than conversation, it’s about building a data-driven foundation that influences real change across the global creative ecosystem,” said Osarimen Ukhurebor, CEO of Black At.

    REDEFINING CREATIVE LEADERSHIP

Among the featured voices for the Lagos edition is creative leader Mabel Adeteye ,

Head, Brands & Marketing Communications, Wema Bank

Who highlights a fundamental shift in the industry:

“Women are no longer just entering creative leadership we are reframing what leadership looks like. We are moving creativity beyond attention toward connection, impact, and legacy.”

Her perspective reflects a broader transformation in the industry, where creativity is increasingly driven by intentional storytelling, cultural intelligence, and long-term impact.

AI, CULTURE, AND THE FUTURE OF CREATIVITY

The initiative also explores the evolving relationship between AI and creativity, emphasizing that while technology accelerates production, it cannot replace human insight.

“AI is not the future of creativity it is a tool within it. You cannot automate insight, cultural sensitivity, or meaningful storytelling,” Mabel adds.

POSITIONING AFRICAN CREATIVITY ON A GLOBAL STAGE

A key focus of Through Her Lens is the global positioning of African brands and creatives. The initiative calls for a shift from fragmented storytelling to consistent, value-driven narratives that showcase Africa’s creative strength on the world stage.

    FROM CONVERSATION TO ACTION

Insights gathered across all cities will contribute to a global white paper, designed to:

Provide actionable recommendations for brands and institutions

Influence policy and investment in the creative economy

Create measurable pathways for women’s advancement
