CAERUS Technology, founded by award-winning disabled filmmaker Chris Lynch, proudly announces the international launch of CAERUS at IBC 2025 in Amsterdam. Named after the Ancient Greek God of opportunity, CAERUS represents a groundbreaking advancement, poised to transform the TV & Filmindustry, particularly for individuals with disabilities.Through the early stages of his career, Chris Lynch quickly realised that he could not authentically take on the role of DOP (Director of Photography) as he knew his disability was too restrictive in being able to get the types of shots that camera operators achieve by being able to move nimbly and at speed, particularly through small spaces.

CAERUS removes many of the barriers that people with disabilities would face in trying to work as a camera operator and has been built to accommodate a range of impairments. It can work in single operator mode to control both the gimbal and focus, or these functions can be seamlessly handed off to other AC’s (Assistant camera operators) on set who are accustomed to these types of roles. This gives the operator the ability to focus on the movement of the system and other tasks such as a tracking subjects or talent. It even has a stabilised handheld option which widens its application across productions even further. CAERUS uses a state-of-the-art self balancing wheelchair called the Genny Zero, an Italian-designed, Swiss-made wheelchair that has a top speed of 20 kmph and a range of 25 km. Given it has only two wheels, it can fit in spaces smaller than most conventional electric chairs and the advantage of using this particular device means that CAERUS operators can now compete with some of the industry norms such as Steadicam – outperforming it with its speed and long running time as its payload is distributed on the chair, not the user.

The system has brought together some of the leading global brands in TV & Film who have helped cocreate the technology and support its development, preparing it for industry readiness. Included are some heavyweights from Ronford Baker, RED, CVP and DJI as well as Ignite Digi, Ottobock, NiSi andvBlkBird.

The technology has been designed to suit a range of different types of production and boasts threedifferent models available from launch including:

CAERUS Vista – it’s all round indoor and outdoor model, capable of handling most production types and an operating wireless range of up to 6km.

CAERUS Studio – designed for indoor studio use for heavy camera and lens packages

CAERUS Rover – an all in one outdoor studio, perfect for interviews with on board lighting, LiveU, on board power, teleprompter and even a custom umbrella to cover system and talent!

CAERUS has a waiting list of orders at launch due to a small production run at its launch however demos are available at IBC Amsterdam 12th-15th September at 11b.07 and you can find out more about our story and the features of CAERUS at www.caerusrig.com
